The second song on this album is awesome, so if you haven’t listened to The Flatliners before give that song a chance first. Unfortunaetly they don’t have anything knew out, but they have a few older albums if you start to get into them. “What do you do when doing what you love gets you nowhere?” asks the opening track on The Great Awake, the second full-length from these Toronto-based punks. The question, delivered with all the gravel-voiced ferocity of a hardened, worn-down clock puncher, betrays the success which has found the endlessly-touring quartet since the release of 2005′s Destroy to Create (Stomp Records/Warner). Far from getting them nowhere, the Flatliners’ five years of passionate melding of raging punk rock, aggressive ska…

I told you I was going to post a Ska album, and it can’t get much more ska than this. The Specials are a British band formed in 1977 in Coventry, England. In 1979, their debut LP hit the shelves and quickly soared into the U.K. Top Five. The album was produced by Elvis Costello and was released under founding member, Jerry Dammer’s record label 2 Tone Records. Following the success of their debut album, Specials, their second and final album, More Specials was released. This expanded the group’s 2 tone sound to include lounge music and other influences.

Streetlight Manifesto – Everything Goes Numb

I don’t have any Ska up yet, so I figured I should add a classic Ska band. This band is always good to see live; if you like the music you will love them live.

Streetlight Manifesto is a / band from East Brunswick, New Jersey under the creative leadership of singer/guitarist Tomas Kalnoky. Since forming in 2002, the band has released three full-length albums. Several of Streetlight’s members were already well known among the New Jersey ska community for their roles in past ska bands from that area, most notably Catch 22‘s Tomas Kalnoky, James Egan, Mike Soprano, and Josh Ansley, as well as One Cool Guy‘s Stuart Karmatz, Pete Sibilia, Dan Ross, and Chris Paszik.
