I am a big Kepi fan, and because of that I ended up seeing a show he played in Stockton, CA at the Plea for Peace center with Pets. For those that don’t know, I live in Minneapolis. Through a contest at the show of who can release the most energy I won copy of Ready the Rifles by Pets as did two of my friends who were with me. I am not sure if the album has been released yet, but I can tell you this… it is great and was played more than once on the drive back to my friend’s place in Southern California.
The show and venue were amazing. I would say anyone living in Oakland/San Francisco should check it out at least once. Jason Webley will be playing there soon, and the venue was founded in part through Mike Park of Asian Man Records. Basically the venue was destined to be a fun, which made the venue a perfect fit for a Kepi or Pets show.
I am actually only on my netbook still, so I have no way of ripping the album to post to grooveshark… which makes me feel like this post may be a bit ridiculous, but I do recommend checking it out or picking it up.
P.S. Every band that played that night rocked.
I am close to releasing a revamped music discovery tool once I improve the caching system and the user interface. I think any readers I still have will appreciate the system. It is online based, and will let you stream music from your browser. I will likely also allow a few customizing options for how it finds the music (like choosing a track in the top 5 played songs by the artist or having it only return the top track. I should have it ready to go for the first of the year if everything goes as planned. The only caveat I see will be working from a netbook for half of December (my real laptop was basically destroyed on a bike tour).
I would have been updating this, but my drive crashed… the drive I had my scripts to pull track information and format the posts. Sorry everyone.
I think I will start to update this in a couple weeks. I am with friends in Phoenix finally and once everything with work is done and I see the people I had planned to, I should be ready to start posting again. In the meantime, check out the links on the right for some awesome music blogs.
Taking a break from this until I get over all of the crap in my life.
I have been in the process of moving, which made getting work harder, which in turn made updating this site harder. I will have internet at my new place on Sunday, and I should be able to catch up on work this weekend as well if all things go well. Anyhow, just letting everyone know this site hasn’t been abandoned, just needing to get stuff together.
Turns out my VPS just sucked as a web host. It was actually worse than the one 1/7th of the cost. This should be running faster, and I will probably still use the VPS to do some data pulling as I am not sure how accepting this host is of that. I will probably switch over to dedicated something this year after the bike tour in summer. Right now I am using godaddy to point all entries to this IP address, so everything should be working alright. So far it is much faster, and I will try to get my pet music projects up and ready once I finish work for my actual job. Anyhow, the site should be faster and have less issues and downtime now that I am back to my old shared hosting instead of VPS.
*rolls eyes*
So twitter decided to suspend my account because they though something was fishy with something or another. Sorry to everyone who was using twitter to view updates on this site. I will try to figure out what went wrong soon enough. In the meantime I have some good ideas for albums to posts after I get back from the doctor. I have strep throat all weekend and even last week. Wish me luck I guess. Also, I need to add a poll to figure out what genres are most popular among these parts; that tidbit is just a reminder to myself.
