album coverSome of you wanted some more metal, so here I am serving up some sludge metal. Since this Savannah, Georgia, United States quintet first formed in early 2001, worrying about genre limitations has never been a priority. Taking musical chances, however, always has been. While Kylesa are as heavy as any band out there, they are beholden to no one scene and no preconceived notions of what heavy music should be. “Lots of people like to stick to one kind of music,” guitarist/vocalist Philip Cope elaborates, “and even with the underground, lots of people segregate themselves into small little categories and place lots of imaginary rules on these scenes.”

I am crediting reddit to finding the artist for me, thank you. I am also going to be posting a Ska album later today for some good juxtaposition. Nevermore is an American band from Seattle, Washington. Their precise musical style is debated by fans and critics alike. The band incorporates elements from styles such as Doom, Thrash, Power, and into their songs, and also makes use of acoustic guitars and a wide range of vocal styles. They started in the beginning of the 1990s, when the band Sanctuary was pressured by its recording label to change its musical style, switching from heavy metal to grunge, which was obtaining mainstream success at the time due to bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam.

They created waves in the metal community with the EP Lifesblood, released in 2001, just over a year after the band’s formation in 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The band appeals to fans of both and , while combining elements of music and beyond. Mastodon was first signed to Reptilian Records in 2000, shortly after recording their demo.
