It took me a while to update today, sorry about that. I was hiding under the covers for a while because I was so burnt out from work. I have been working from when I get up until around 2am minus breaks for this and that. This band is instrumental, but it doesn’t get in the way of letting you know you are listening to feel-good music. Fang Island is a self-proclaimed “Healing & Easy Listening / Visual” band from “Philayorkadence” in the United States of America. Made up of a guitarist from the band Daughters (Nicholas Andrew Sadler) and four others from the aforementioned town (Jason Bartell, Chris Georges, Marc St Sauvuer, and Michael Jacober), Fang Island makes music that they describe as “everyone high-fiving everyone.”

Here is a unique voice to the indie rock scene. Noisettes are a rock trio from London, England, formed in 2003 when Shingai Shoniwa and Dan Smith (formerly of the band SonarFly) began writing and playing more intensely than before. They met drummer Jamie Morrison in December 2003, and went straight into the studio to record their noisy and abrasive four-track debut, Three Moods of the Noisettes, which was released on Side Salad Records. Eventually signing to Universal, they’ve since released seven singles: IWE, Scratch Your Name…

If you are looking for a band to replace your high school obsession of bands like Orgy and Kill Hannah, I have just the band for you. Girls Against Boys is an indie rock/post-hardcore band, originally forming in washington dc in 1988 and currently based in new york city. The group began as a side project of Eli Janney and Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty. Canty soon left the project and by 1991 Janney had gone on to recruit three former members of D.C. hardcore punk group Soulside – Scott McCloud, Johnny Temple, and Alexis Fleisig – to complete the line-up.

This is an interesting album to put on. I can’t understand any of it, but it kind of makes me want a giant pretzel. Tocotronic is a German rock band formed in 1993. Similar to Blumfeld or Die Sterne, Tocotronic not only innovated German language rock music, but also inspired a number of later bands, such as Wir sind Helden. Their influence on pop culture is widespread, from fashion (Tocotronic made the combination of 1970s style track suit tops with cheap second-hand ad-shirts famous in Germany) to the playful and weird look of their early records.

I know I need to find some time to post some new stuff, and I will eventually. For now though you will have to settle for this. Blonde Redhead is an alternative rock band. It was formed by Kazu Makino, Maki Takahashi and Milan-born Italian twin brothers Simone Pace and Amedeo Pace. They take their name from a song by DNA, a 70s and 80s no-wave band from New York. Blonde Redhead caught the attention of Sonic Youth’s drummer, Steve Shelley, who produced their first self titled album in 1993. Shortly afterwards Maki Takahashi left the band and the remaining band members continued as a trio. On their third album, Fake Can Be Just As Good, they were joined by Vern Rumsey of Unwound as a guest bassist.
