From Atlanta, GA, the WILD are a bunch of friends who love playing music and sharing in the DIY philosophy of music, art, and politics. This is what The WILD has to say about themselves…
We are five friends having a great time playing music together… We all feel the best when we are traveling together and getting to see old friends, making new ones, jumping off of high things into water, and playing music every night. right now everybody lives all over the country…. We’re from Atlanta, Lexington, Denver, Brooklyn, and Massachusetts… We write songs that are political and personal.

I came across this just in time it looks like. I was hoping to post an album by Red Pens, but I can’t find their music anywhere to upload to Grooveshark. Middle Brother is an American Rock band and supergroup consisting of songwriters and musicians John J. McCauley III of the band Deer Tick, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, and Matt Vasquez of Delta Spirit. They played their first show at the 2010 the SXSW film conference and festival at the Ale House in Austin, Texas, where they performed under the moniker “MG&V” in an unannounced appearance.[1] The band played their first official show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, California on December 20, 2010 under the official name of Middle Brother.

Fire on Fire are an experimental folk band from Portland Maine, formed from members of Cerberus Shoal and Big Blood. In 2007 they released a self-titled ep on Michael Gira’s Young God Records. Fire On Fire used to be the art-punk-prog-chaos collective Cerberus Shoal, but they ditched their electric instruments, went into hiding for a while, and now play all acoustic—stand up bass, mandolin, banjo, harmonium, accordion, acoustic guitar, dobro etc etc, and they all sing and harmonize on the songs. I am really liking it.

Marian Call is a composer and singer currently living in Anchorage, Alaska. Her self-produced debut album, Vanilla, is an eclectic yet internally cohesive collection of songs. Her compositions are half study & calculation, half improvisational instinct. Marian was born into a family of musicians and artists, and she was raised on a steady diet of Bach, Beethoven, and Joni Mitchell in her hometown of Gig Harbor, Washington. Check out her other albums at her Bandcamp.

Andrew Kenny is a native Texan who after nearly six years in Brooklyn, NY has returned to beautiful Austin, TX. He’s best known as the singer/songwriter behind mellow indie favorites The American Analog Set. However, he’s also performed as a guest artist with The Album Leaf, Her Space Holiday, Styrofoam, Ola Podrida, Arthur & Yu, and most recently with Broken Social Scene. His latest project is called The Wooden Birds and their first album, Magnolia, was released in May 2009 by Barsuk Records in the US & Canada and on Morr Music in Europe. I really need some good new punk music by the way, so if you have any ideas, please send them my way.

This band is new to me, and so far so good. Slow Club are Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor from Sheffield, United Kingdom. They sing using quirky lyrics, a variety of percussion instruments and great vocal interplay. They are currently releasing singles on Moshi Moshi Records and have been on nationwide tours with bands such as Fionn Regan, Noisettes, Hot Club de Paris, Tilly and the Wall, Jamie T and Jeremy Warmsley. The pair have released a series of EPs: Because We’re Dead, Me and You, Let’s Fall Back in Love, Christmas TV and It Doesn’t Have to Be Beautiful. Their debut album, Yeah So, was released on 7 July 2009.

This album was a pain to get into a grooveshark playlist. The quality dropped below grooveshark’s acceptible limits so I had to change the bitrate and then the sample rate was too high. It was worth it though, as this album will likely be one of your favorites. With infectious melodies accompanied by intricate guitar, crumbling distortion, trumpets, and violins – this minimalist and “sweetly cacophonous” Brooklyn outfit will make you smile or crush your soul depending on your current level of sadness. By the way they just started up their tour, so be sure to check out their myspace for tour dates.
Side note: All playlists I have been exporting include the first track twice, and I can’t seem to find away around that. Apologies.

I have some new releases of 2010, but I still need to upload them to grooveshark and write the tracklist because last.fm has been slacking on newer albums. Deer Tick is a folk rock band which formed in Providence, Rhode Island, United States in 2004. The band consists of John McCauley III (vocals, guitar), Andrew Tobiassen (guitar), Christopher Ryan (bass) and Dennis Ryan (drums). Keyboardist James Falzone played with Deer Tick off and on from 2006 to 2007 and Paul Marandola drummed from 2005 to 2007.

Here is the new album by The Tallest Man on Earth, The Wild Hunt. It is all here: The words. The voice. The melodies. Ten perfect songs. The Wild Hunt picks up where 2008’s Shallow Grave left off, with Matsson doing what he does best. It is unmistakably The Tallest Man on Earth, from the urgent strums of “You’re Going Back” and the sweet melodies of “Love is All,” to the playful lyricism of live favorite “King of Spain” and the subtle hook on “Burden of Tomorrow.”
