Benoît Charest was born in 1964 in Canada. He is a composer and guitarist, best known for his original soundtrack for the animation film “Les Triplettes de Belleville” in 2003, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for the title song. The film this soundtrack goes to is absolutely amazing, and if you can find it somewhere I recommend picking it up without hesitation. I hope you enjoy this album as much as I did.

Here is the new album by The Tallest Man on Earth, The Wild Hunt. It is all here: The words. The voice. The melodies. Ten perfect songs. The Wild Hunt picks up where 2008’s Shallow Grave left off, with Matsson doing what he does best. It is unmistakably The Tallest Man on Earth, from the urgent strums of “You’re Going Back” and the sweet melodies of “Love is All,” to the playful lyricism of live favorite “King of Spain” and the subtle hook on “Burden of Tomorrow.”

Nat “King” Cole (17th March 1919–15th February 1965) was a popular American singer and jazz musician. As a piano player, he formed a jazz trio in 1938 that played Los Angeles nightclubs, one of the first jazz trios featuring guitar and piano. Prior to this he had played music since he was a child and had worked with bands since he was sixteen. He was raised in Chicago and exposed to the abundant jazz scene there. He was heavily influenced by pianist Earl “Fatha” Hines. Later he became more popularly known as a singer and crooner and his work became more orchestrated.

Here is a nice calm album to put on while programming or trying to relax. I will try to post another album today, but it probably won’t be until the evening because of work. 9 Lazy 9 is an acid jazz / downtempo group on the Ninja Tune label. Operating out of Italy in 1992, they soon gained respect for their first album Paradise Blown. Their sound, distinctively more sun than North Sea, is a smoky Mediterranean mix of vines and good times. Keir Fraserello and Giacomo Braddellini (a pseudonym for James Braddell — AKA Funki Porcini) had been making music for many years in different guises before combining forces in Rome in the early nineties.

Tom Waits (Thomas Alan Waits, Pomona, California, December 7, 1949 ) is a prolific American singer-songwriter, composer, and actor. He started his career in the early 1970s as a singer in spit ‘n’ sawdust bars. Initially, he was deeply influenced by the beat generation (novelists like Jack Kerouac, and William S. Burroughs, poets like Allen Ginsberg). He could not make a living from his music, although he was well accepted by the critics.

Xploding Plastix is the musical child of Jens Petter Nilsen and Hallvard Hagen. Both based in Oslo, they started making music together sometime in late ’98 or early ’99. After about a year of playing, sampling, programming and focused tune writing; they decided it was time to let the public hear what they’d been up to. This resulted in a 6 track demo in late ’99. About 22 hours after first shipment, record companies were on the phone, and 4 months later, 5 out of 6 tracks had been released on various labels.
