Balto – October’s Road
Mon, Jun 13, 2011
I needed something relaxing and simple this morning, and this felt like a good fit. I hope you all enjoy this album, but it is different from my usual posts. Balto came into being when Daniel Sheron abandoned his life in Moscow, Russia and went alone into Siberia. Against an ever-shifting backdrop of railways and desolate wastes, he wrote a cycle of folk songs to tell the story of what had happened in that strange country, why he had exiled himself, and why he thought it mattered. On the morning of December 15, 2010, six friends entered Grand Street Recording in Brooklyn, New York and emerged that night with an album that no one had expected: October’s Road.

Hey! Glad to see ya back up and running. May was a rough month for me too. I’ll have to check out Balto when I get home. Just thought I’d drop by and say hey for now. And thanks for all the great music recommendations!
