The Undertones – The Undertones

New Wave, Punk

Here is an awesome old school punk band. Very similar feeling to listening to The Clash/Ramones. I figure not enough people are familiar with this band, and even if they are, it is definitely worth giving it another listen. I will be posting some new indie bands for my next post, but I have just been loving some of the older music out there recently. If there is any album you think should be brought to the attention of more people feel free to let me know and I will probably post it.

The Undertones are an Northern Irish rock band formed in Derry, Northern Ireland in 1975. The original band consisted of: * Feargal Sharkey (lead vocals),  John O’Neill (guitar), Damian O’Neill (guitar, keyboards and vocals), Michael Bradley (bass and vocals), and Billy Doherty (drums). John O’Neill was the original main song writer, with his brother Damian and Mickey Bradley writing in various solo & combined variations for most of the remainder.

  1. Steve says:

My older borther loved The Undertones, they were a good band though.
Also worth checking out are another Northern Irish punk band, Stiff Little Fingers from the 70s. Especially the songs, Alternative Ulster or Tin Soldiers.
